Little FlockLittle Flock Children's Home is a place dear to my family's hearts. It is an orphanage that's mantra is to be... "dedicated to transforming the lives of orphans, widows and their communities" but absolutely EXCEEDS itself in all of those areas.
Wayne and I had the opportunity to visit Little Flock and it's surrounding areas in September-October 2009. Needless to say, we miss it everyday. Never had we experienced a country that was so in need of such a place! Little Flock is truely an Oasis for the children and widows it serves. Located in Hanumanthapuram, Southern India it is absolutely a God-centered place. It is one of the only Christian orphanages in India and currently houses approximately 50 children. Each and every child has their own horror story. Some were street rat criminals, others sexually and physically abused, some were forced to be prosititutes by their own family, some watched their parents be burned before their eyes by their grandparents. Each child was in desperate need of a safe haven, each one was hungry for love, and each one was purposely and almost magically chosen by God to be cared for within the LF community.
Nowhere in the world are children more at risk than in India. There are more than 2 million orphans who struggle just to survive. Every child who comes to live at Little Flock is a child who is rescued from a life of grinding poverty. Every widow who comes to live at LF is a woman who gets the opportunity to "mother" the children. It's truly a living testament to what God asks of Christian as explained in James 1:27... "The religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." Little Flock is a shining example of that.
