Our Bumblebee

Our Bumblebee

Here's our little bumblebee!  Our very own strawberry blonde, blue eyed, dimple cheeked, active, precious, and fiery little girl.  Her name is Banner Nevaeh -- which I know many of your are scrunching up your noses thinking... "whoaa... weird name".  Let me tell you a story first...

Once upon a time there were two people who were madly in love and desperately wanted to be parents.  Unfortunately for them -- there was also the news that becoming pregnant would be a very unlikely option for them.  After a trip across the world to India... God placed on their hearts the idea of adoption while working at an orphanage called Little Flock.  While in rural Hanumanthapuram many women asked why we did not have children considering we were married and appeared to be of good health and able bodies.  While explaining that we were dealing with a woman-problem -- we were promised by the Indian women that we would shortly indeed be pregnant and that they would pray for us everyday.  We thanked them and forced ourselves to kind of laugh it off.  Two weeks later... BAM!  Pregnant!  We were shocked and excited and blown away.

When it came time to choose her name we knew we had to give her a name that would explain who she is.  So Banner... obviously, it means 'a sign'.  Nevaeh [pronounced 'na-vay']: is heaven spelled backwards.  Banner Nevaeh... our sign from Heaven.

She is the apple of our eyes, the light in our life, our joy and our MONSTER!, haha.  She was finally born 2 weeks overdue on August 20th, 2010 at 9:46am after a grueling 18 1/2 hours of labor.  8lbs, 8oz... 20" long of pure perfection.  There was nothing more humbling and incredible than the moment she breathed her first breath in my arms.  What an experience.  She has amazed us everyday since she arrived.  She is hands-down the most beautiful, creative, funny, determined and loving child I've ever met.  God really gave us the greatest gift when He entrusted her with us.  We strive to be the best we can and we rely on God for the rest.  So far... that's working for us!  :)

I can't wait to see who she becomes tomorrow, because she is certainly changing everyday.  Life is short.
